here's the thing for me. If its left (towards the wall) it has a high chance of touching the wall, which i dont like. And if its to the right, than its closer to the toilet, which i also dont like.  :cold:

but right would probably be the lesser of two evils for me

It must be right for me.

But I voted left because when kids come to the bathroom, they tend to hit the roll and play with it. If it is to the left, no matter how much they hit it the roll doesn't unravel. If its to the right as it normally is, the roll will unravel. And toilet paper facing the improper side > toilet paper that's been on the bathroom floor and re-rolled back up.

Right is easier to find the end and pull. And there's no problem of it being closer to the toilet if you just fold it "outside-in"  :victory:

Right. Less effort. And standard.

If a child is used to the standard (right) way who always flicks it upwards so he can play with the roll without letting it unravel and thus getting scolded were to perform the identical action to your so-favoured non-standard (left) way he would be utterly surprised that the roll unravelled since he is used to the standard way; this is the idea of standards, the idea that all people are used to an identical setting so that no mishaps such as the aforementioned happen.

The child in mind always hits the roll downwards, causing the roll of toilet tissue to unravel when the tissue follows the standard direction. The child is too young to consider which method of hitting the roll would get the child in deep shit. Therefore, left wins.

Thou has spelt 'unraveled' incorrectly.

Now there is a lot of things to consider here. You must realize that someone will need to find the fastest way of flushing the entire roll down the toilet. However, the toilet will flush in different directions in different parts of the world and the different models of the toilet. What one doesn't realize is that the toilet paper itself is a parameter that would cause tremendous problems being placed different ways, like those thick ultra powerful bear tissues or those 4 rolls in one. That means that some toilet paper will have a tight fit in the socket. Lots of lube will be needed to move such roll, and depending on the direction of the lube applied the paper will go that direction.
In conclusion, the direction of the roll will depend on the luube applied.

tsk tsk, Chara. 'unraveled' is the US way; 'unravelled' is the non-US way.

Those thick rolls are no problem if you use the holder that comes with said thick rolls. No lube required. Right is still right.
