Anime & Manga / Re: Best Anime Lines
« on: April 22, 2009, 06:26:32 PM »
"Everyone who calls themselves Japanese: I have a request. Can you all die? Erm… I hoped that you would all commit suicide, but is that impossible? Then can the soldiers please annihilate them all?" - Euphemia li Britannia, Code Geass

I couldn't stop laughing when I first heard it in the anime. That was epic.

"Daijoubu nantoka naru yo.  Zettai daijoubu da yo!" - "Somehow, it'll be alright. Absolutely, it will be alright!" - Kinomoto Sakura, Card Captor Sakura. Tsubasa if you will as well. Simply a classic line.

"ORE WA ONNA JANNAI!" - "I'M NOT A WOMAN!" - If you already brought up Rumiko Takahashi, so what the hell. Saotome Ranma, Ranma 1/2.
"RANMA NO BAKA!!!" "RANMA YOU IDIOT!!!" - Tendou Akane, Ranma 1/2. They actually made a song named "Ranma no Baka", and it's obviously sung by Akane about Ranma's retardness.

"...Dattebayo" - "I'M DUMB DOH" - Naruto's retarded speech pattern. Fuck him.

I'll come up with more later.

Oh Chara please don't spoil for me, I'm very faithful to FMA so it's the only series in the meantime I buy and don't download online, and I'm at vol15 :( (Vol16 is right by me, just waiting to be read by me :) )

Chara, I highly suggests that you don't this episode as an episode that sets the tone for the rest of the series, give it a chance.

You're also right about that the ED should maybe be something rather dark, as it supposed to reflect the general tone of the series. But I would rather not judge a series just by it's OPs and EDs.

You can search ISOhunt and Mininova for DBK....I'm quite sure Tokyotosho have torrents too....I watched it RAW, and since the Japanese is quite simple in DB I understood quite a large part of it.

lolz@the pic, but really give it a chance. I'm still positive that it'll live up to its premise. Bones did a great job on the old anime and I'm sure than can pull it off again.

I'm sharing your disappointment Chara, but I think this is just an into episode. I guess they felt required to introduce as many characters as possible at the first episode, so they made this up. I'm on the other hand think it's unnecessary.

I think that in episode 3 they're going to go back to the original story, since in the "Next Episode" they seem to have a dedicated episode for Ed and Al's origin story, which I also think is unnecessary, since the manga reveal their story with a good pacing.

They also decided to reveal to those who are new to the series that Al is basically an empty suit of armor, instead of leaving that revelation to be made in the same way it was made in the manga - Al being shot to the head, his armor body falling to the ground and then raising, which was awesome. But that's really a small thing.

And since the whole story that gone in this episode is going to be neglected throughout the rest of the series(as it is going to follow the manga), I think it's quite ridiculous how much they decided to tear up Central. BTW, what was Roy doing there? He's stationed at East City.

I also disliked that they used Isaac to foreshadow future revelations, specifically the horrors with which the army is deeply involved(I won't go into detail since I don't want to spoil to those who don't read the manga). It's just waaaayyyyy to early to hint the audience about that.

Chara, you're right about that there's little to no hand-to-hand combat....I didn't notice that when I watched, so it didn't quite bother me, but there should truly be more hand-to-hand combat.

They also did the "Ed is short" "WHAT DID YOU SAY!?" joke waaaayyyy too much. One time would've been enough to make the audience understand Ed is sensitive about his height, and add to that that many of these jokes are still yet to come throughout the whole series.

I loved the new OP and ED. Especially the ED, cute. One thing that concerns me is that we see neither Ling or Mei in the OP, which makes me wonder where the hell are they.

Hopefully I didn't forget to write anything O:

EDIT: I did forget something - All in all, this episode was fine. I mean, by itself, nothing made it bad. It just didn't match the expectation - to see Ed and Al go again to Lior, the point where their journey took a sharp turn.

P.S:
GO WATCH IT NAO IF YOU DIDNT ARRGHHH >:(
DBK ROCKS

Chara, get CCCP. It's a codec pack that include Media Player Classic. I love it.

Every single word in this article just points out more to me how little-to-nothing do the makers of this movie know about the Dragon Ball franchise and its fans.

It's not Mokona simply because...it's not Mokona.

And yeah, you can pretty much bet crossovers with other CLAMP works will play a part in this series, since it involves the dream world, which other characters across CLAMP's works can enter to.

Entertainment / Re: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
« on: March 27, 2009, 06:17:23 PM »
I played Phantom Hourglass, and I really liked it, so I suppose I'll like Spirit Tracks too. I guess the train riding also plays a part in the plot, as the title suggests. Otherwise, I too don't understand why feel it necessary to keep Link riding stuff instead of the old-school walking.

I really do hope that they include more new stuff and features in this title. The trailer shows just a little bit of new stuff, which I don't think will give anything really refreshing.

I also hope to have more of the classic theme in this title. It was really missing in Phantom Hourglass. I mean, there was only a vague version of it in the overworld(the sea) and a nice version in the multiplayer, which I don't exactly consider to be in the game, since the Legend of Zelda is at heart about Link's adventures and not about any multiplayer component. The fact that the trailer includes a vague version of the theme really concerns me.

Anyhow, I'm definitely buying this game. I was worried the next Zelda will be for the Wii, since I don't own a Wii. Phew.

To be released this year FTW

TBH, when I first saw this image, I immediately thought it is Mokona. I thought the eyes were the legs of Mokona. I didn't even see that it actually continues and has a body. I was all like "HOLYSHIT! Larg in a new Clamp work!", and it totally fitted to me, since it seems this manga is going to be all around the dream world, which has a very important role in xxxHolic and TRC.

Why isn't it really Mokona :(

The cover of the book has been revealed:

If you focus on the animal that Hana is holding, and focus solely on it's head, you'll see the head is shaped like Mokona. The fuck.

I heard of this adaption a long time ago. Even though I have never got to see it, you can see that they at least tried harder (the Korean version at least) in the costume department than 20th Century Fox. BTW, I read reviews that say the Korean adaption is better.
