My ears bleed. But my eyes still like the prettiness of it all, and Sakura's costumes :).

News / Re: Tsubasa v17 BATCH RELEASE! Looking for editors, trans, QC...

I'd be happy to volunteer services as a QC-er if you're looking for good grammar radar (I used to edit articles for an academic journal, so catching bad grammar and typos is something I'm used to).

PS: I just tried to download the QC test and it gave me a 404 Not Found message.

General CLAMP Discussion / Re: Favourite CLAMP pairing
« on: September 10, 2008, 09:44:42 AM »
CLAMP have a way of creating couples that you absolutely want to root for, so it's a little difficult to just pick one, but my favourites are Sakura and Syaoran (both in CCS and Tsubasa), mainly because of the sentimental value thing (for me)- they're adorable in CCS and so cute that I want to glomp them, while Tsubasa is the 'older' take on them (though of course, by now we know Tsubasa's Sakura and Syaoran aren't really the CCS pair). I love that we get to see them two ways, from cute and fluffy to tortured and angsty (words I'd never have associated with those two in CCS)- same souls or not, I will always ship them.
Re: Subaru and Seishirou, I so wanted them to meet in the Tokyo Revelations arc of TRC, but sadly that didn't happen.

Anime & Manga / Re: What do you think of scanlations & fansubs?
« on: September 07, 2008, 02:44:27 PM »
I agree- one of the reasons I turned to scanlations was because I didn't like not being able to see artwork that was spread across two pages (I've gone stupid and can't find the right words for that just now) because the spines of the book would just refuse to open far enough. I really appreciate all the careful redrawing editors do to bring us those seamless double pages, now.
That said, my conscience would seriously bother me if I didn't attempt to buy books if they became available in my area- supporting the mangaka has something to do with it, even if I prefer reading the scanlation.

Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE / Re: Love <3 predictions
« on: September 07, 2008, 01:06:01 PM »
Yes, Nihon's Tomoyo is like CCS Tomoyo minus all the sugar that the latter ever consumed. She does have her moments of going 'ohohoho', though- those are always funny.
I didn't know till a few months ago, that the Mokonas have genders! I'd totally ship the two Mokonas, esp. after that chapter picture that says something about the two of them being separated.
And I still want to know who C!Sakura's mother was supposed to be, not least because I want to know who the hell would get together with Clow.

Yes, Shin Shukaden definitely deserves to have justice done to it- I'd volunteer translator services if I could, but unfortunately I can't read kanji all that well.

How do we go about finding translators?

So do you mean that if it's in hiragana, you would be able to translate it?

Possibly, but I really wouldn't want to risk it - I had a translation test yesterday and bombed it, trust me you don't want me working on Chun-Hyang.

Soompi's yielded one volunteer for an editor so far, if BWYS needs one. I'll ask around a bit more..

I can't really ask any of them, but I did post on soompi asking for a translator, leaving a link to this page.

I liked the Japanese version with Maki Horikita as Mizuki, too :).

I think I'd be hot for any guy who likes to hang out alone in a fire escape away from his popular friends and listen to the crazy girl talking to herself . And in the drama, it was Shun Oguri with a book- it'd be tough not to fall for him ^_^. Especially when all you want to do with the main protagonist of the series (Tsukasa) is either
a) laugh at him like he's your idiot little brother
b) choke him.

Rui wins, every time.

The full length of Tokyopop's English edition is 232 pages, 3 chapters, and the scanlations cover the same (3 chapters, or more like 2 chapters and 1 mini-chapter). I guess that means there's nothing more to scanlate, if CLAMP have really dropped it (wouldn't mind the odd Chun-Hyang vignette now and then, though).

xxxHOLiC / Re: Who is Watanuki's #1?
« on: September 04, 2008, 01:16:54 PM »
Well, I'd rather see a DouWata pairing than anything else, but it's possible Watanuki might end the series not being paired off with anyone. It has to be someone who's significant in his mind, and right now that's really just Doumeki, Himawari and Yuuko. Like you said, Zashiki Warashi isn't central enough..and even if there end up being no pairings at all, I'll still love this manga. It's one of the most brilliant things I've ever read.
